Written by a mobile home owner, Mobile Homes 101 will cover the basics and start you on your journey into trailer park life!
Park It
Most of the time, the mobile home you will be purchasing will already be located in a mobile home community, or trailer park. These are areas designated specifically for manufactured houses, and residents pay a monthly space rent on top of their mortgage. Rent can vary depending on location, and how many previous owners the trailer has had. The more frequently people move out, the more frequently the park owners can raise the rent. But every park has it's own rules, and of course some parks are much more affordable than others. But be aware that you will be paying rent, if you live in a trailer park! Some people prefer to buy a piece of land and then purchase a mobile home to put on the lot. You have to check with your city though, as permits are frequently needed.
